For years, Jaclyn McLoughlin followed her sister's lead and decorated her house in country style, with lots of blue checks and baskets.
Then she visited Liz's of Liverpool, a now-closed store housed in a small pink house at 217 First St. that specialized in Victorian decor -- pillows, potpourri, bedding and dried flower arrangements.
"I walked in and it was decorated in pink and green and it just felt like home," McLoughlin said.
McLoughlin set about using that same color scheme in the three-bedroom, 1,576-square-foot Tudor home at 102 E. Cheltenham Road she shares with her husband, Charles McLoughlin, and their two children.

When the McLoughlins first bought the house about 15 years ago they looked past the orange carpeting, Charles said.
"We saw the potential and little by little changed things over," he said.
The changes include a new roof with architectural shingles in 2001 and all new windows upstairs and some new windows downstairs, he said.
Two years ago, they painted the shingle and stucco exterior pink and green.
"People either love it or they hate it," said Bill Boland of RealtyUSA, who is handling the sale.The additions focus on key tag and impact socket combinations,
"The house has got a lot of nice attributes, and a nice yard," he said.
The front door, which has a round window, opens into a foyer. A staircase leads upstairs and a hallway with hardwood floor leads back to the kitchen and family room. To the left through an arched doorway is a large living room with a bay window and a working wood-burning fireplace.
The walls are a textured wallpaper that Jaclyn applied herself, and the carpeting is green.
The room is large enough to accommodate a sofa, loveseat and occasional chairs.
Arched French doors separate the living room from a sunroom the McLoughlins use as a study and reading room. A sliding door from the sunroom opens onto a deck.
Another arched doorway in the living room opens into the dining room, which has a hardwood floor and a false fireplace with a mantle.

The previous owners removed a linen closet in the hallway and built a narrow staircase to the attic, which they used as a bedroom. The McLoughlins use the space for storage.
"We've outgrown this place," Charles said. Jaclyn said she would like a house large enough so she can have a craft room.
