Deeply unsettled by the current state of America’s food system, particularly the raising of livestock, Morris resident Tom Truelove embarked on an adventure in opening Truelove Farms, a small sustainable farm focused on using natural, grass-fed practices to raise beef, pork, eggs and poultry in Morris.

Mr. Truelove opened his business in November of 2009 with no background in farming, he had moved back to the area from Boston, where he was teacher. Mr. Truelove said the venture did take a lot of research, and that he read what he could and just jumped in.
Truelove Farms is currently located on a property he and his family lease from the El Hachem family on Thomaston Road.
"[The property] was more or less sitting idle,If so, you may have a zentai . I came up with the idea [that] this was something I might want to try," said Mr. Truelove.
Mr. Truelove said that the property was a working dairy farm until 1970,These girls have never had a cube puzzle in their lives! and then the El Hachem family bought it.
"I have my masters in English. I have been reading a lot of books, ‘Omnivore's Dilemma' [by Michael Pollan], books that really sort of talk about the food movement. Truelove Farms is a diversified farm, because it doesn't specialize in one thing. Right now, it is raising pasteurized pigs, which means the pigs are all rotationally moved around from place to place in the pastures and in the woods.
"We offer grass-fed beef and free range eggs and, hopefully, as time goes on, we'll add on to that," said Mr. Truelove. The farm hopes to add pasteurized poultry. Continued.
