Packing for college for the first time is difficult. It’s not easy to know what you’ll actually need as opposed to what just looks really cool.
But dorm rooms do not allow for a lot of "stuff," and living in a dorm is a balancing act between having everything you need and having almost nowhere to put it all. So with that challenge ahead of you, what are college students buying to bring back to school?
Target is a popular stop for back-to-school, as the store carries items from clothing to bedding to school supplies. The top five best sellers when searching “back to college” on the store's website are a laptop messenger bag, bedding, a dish chair, an iPad sleeve and wall decorations.
Backpacks are also helpful for making the trips from the dorm to those late-night library study sessions.
Target carries many different styles of bedding, so it’s easy to make your bed yours. Bedding is one of the easiest ways to personalize a dorm room.
A dish chair is a foldable chair that is saucer-shaped. The desk chairs that the school provides are far from comfortable, so investing in another chair is a good idea.
Students who shop at Target are apparently also buying iPad sleeves. Protecting electronics while at school is important, as they’ll most likely be carried around and used most of the time.
Last but not least are the wall decorations. Dorm rooms are bland and boring on first glance. But buying wall decorations allows for the opportunity to decorate it for yourself.
Bed, Bath and Beyond provides a college checklist covering everything college students could possibly need, from sleeping to relaxing to eating. The problem with these checklists is that not everyone will need, or be allowed to bring, coffee makers or a mini grill, but they are included on every list.
When using these lists for shopping, it’s best to read them with a grain of salt. Think about what is practical, and if you find you do need something else in the end, you can always go back and buy it later.
Some Bridgewater residents returning to college this fall said the most important item they make sure they had to bring back to school is Easy Mac microwaveable macaroni and cheese. Dining halls will inevitably close before you’re done studying for the night, so keeping a stash of easy-to-make or ready-to-eat food in the dorm is ideal.
Keeping food in the dorm will also help you stretch your meal plan at the end of the semester when most students are trying to figure out how to keep eating in those last weeks.
Going back to college can be stressful. But by buying these essential items, moving back in to school can be more relaxing than expected.

WikiLeaks exposes US-Gaddafi ties
As Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi's regime crumbled on August 23 after a rebel uprising and NATO bombing, United States President Barack Obama said: "For over four decades, the Libyan people had lived under the rule of a tyrant who denied them their most basic human rights."
Obama would know ― his government's support in recent years allowed Gaddafi's regime to do so. Indeed, the NATO bombing campaign targeted Libyan forces the US had armed and trained.
Secret US diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks confirmed the growing closeness between the US and Libyan governments in recent years. These girls have never had a cube puzzle in their lives!
Confirming the US's lack of concern about Gaddafi's human rights abuses and absence of democracy in the country, the cables show the two countries were close to "normalising" their relationship.
This process started in the mid-1990s, when Gaddafi began to open Libya to Western investment.
Gaddafi's shit to ally of the West was formalised in 2004 when then-British PM Tony Blair struck a deal with the Libyan regime.
A cable from the US embassy in Tripoli on August 19, 2009, details a meeting between a US congressional delegation led by former presidential candidate Senator John McCain and Muammar Gaddafi and his son Muatassim.
In the lead up to the meeting, a cable on August 10, 2009, said: "Libya has acted as a critical ally in U.S. counter-terrorism efforts, and Libya is considered one of our primary partners in combating the flow of foreign fighters. Our strategic partnership in this field has been highly productive and beneficial to both nations.
"Libya has stated its number one priority, in return for relinquishing WMD [Weapons of Mass Destruction], is a security guarantee by the U.S. against foreign aggression.
"To that end, Libya has expressed an interest in purchasing lethal weapons from U.S. firms."
Discussion at the meeting focused on Libya's desire to buy "lethal and non-lethal military equipment" from US companies.
The August 19 cable said: "Senator McCain assured Muatassim that the United States wanted to provide Libya with the equipment it needs for its security. For the last five years porcelain tiles ,"
McCain also "pledged to see what he could do" about recovering eight military planes that Libya bought from Lockheed Martin in the 1970s but were never delivered.
The senators praised Libya's role as an ally in the US's "war on terror", and said they wished to deepen the relationship.
McCain "described the bilateral military relationship as strong and pointed to Libyan officer training at U.S. Command, Staff, and War colleges as some of the best programs for Libyan military participation".where he teaches TMJ in the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
The August 10 cable said the US had "begun some successful training programs to assist Libya in improving its security capabilities,Great Rubber offers oil painting supplies keychains, under the rubrics of anti-terrorism assistance and border security".
A cable from US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on November 9, 2009, showed the US was selling spare parts to the Libyan air force via Portugal.
The cables said Clinton was concerned that the parts may not have been received by Libya. "US Customs records ... listed ultimate end-user of these items is the Portuguese Air Force, a party not authorized to received hardware under this license".
Gaddafi was reported to have used air force jets to attack and kill pro-democracy protesters in Tripoli in February.
Salon.com said on March 23: "More than [US]$15 million in arms sales from U.S. manufacturers to Libya were authorized by the government in fiscal 2009 alone, according to the State Department...
"In 2008, $46 million in military sales were approved by the government."
The increasingly close political ties between Washington and Tripoli benifitted US corporations seeking to take advantage of Libya's move to open its economy to foreign investment.
A December 18, 2007 cable from the US embassy in Tripoli reported: "U.S. companies AECOM and the Tennessee Overseas Construction Company (TOCC) inked separate deals worth a total of $2.0 to $3.0 billion with Libya's Housing and Infrastructure Board."
The cable said: The GOL [government of Libya] apparently awarded the contracts to U.S. firms for at least partly political purposes, telling company representatives that the deals symbolize the fact that U.S.-Libyan ties have moved beyond strictly security (i.Men and women too can find a great variety for themselves when it comes to purchasing the zentai , jackets, coast and even bags too.e., WMD and counter-terrorism) concerns.
"The agreements underscore that the GOL continues to directly link commercial contracts to political relationships."
The US was also deeply interested in the restructuring of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL) as Libya moved to open more of its banking sector to foreign ownership, a March 23, 2008, cable said.
The US did not hide its desire to shape the way the bank operated, with a delegation seeking to "solicit updates on its training programs and openness to U.S. assistance".
"Banking reform is moving ahead; we likely have a window of 18 to 24 months in which to contribute on the training and reform front," the cable said.
The cable said several US firms were key advisers on CBL's restructure.
Documents found in the abandoned office of the former head of Libyan intelligence also showed evidence of close ties with US and British intelligence services, the New York Times said on September 4.
The documents suggest the US sent prisoners to be interrogated in Libya at least times as part of the "war on terror".

A piece of Penhook history
"They're tearing down the house that I was brung up in."
That's the first line to an old country song, but it came true for Dorothy Cundiff and her brother and sister recently.
The once beautiful home on Morgan Fork Road in Penhook was demolished on Aug. 15, Cundiff said.
"The only difference in this house and many others that have been torn down is the fact that I was born in that house, as was my brother David and sister Peggy,Polycore Floor tiles are manufactured as a single sheet," Cundiff said. "My two other siblings were born in a home that mom and dad built across the hill from this house. I lived in this house until I was 12 years old."
But the house has a history that included serving as a bed and breakfast of sorts.
Cundiff's mother, Bettie Kate Goggin, moved into the house in 1920 after her father died, and she was "adopted" by Sam and Angie Stone, whose family had built the house.
But in 1921, Cundiff said, Sam Stone died leaving Angie Stone and Goggin "to fend for themselves."
In 1927, Goggin married Adolphus D. Ramsey, who was just out of college and teaching. An Cold Sore of him grinning through his illegal mustache is featured prominently in the lobby. They continued to live with her grandmother,These girls have never had a cube puzzle in their lives! Angie Stone, in the house.
"In those days, all the food was raised, hogs were killed, cows were milked and chickens were eaten, as well as the eggs that the hens laid," Cundiff said. "In that household, nothing was ever wasted."
The house had carbide lights for many years with a tank in the back yard where carbide was mixed with water and piped into the house.
"We had a big ice box, and ice was delivered from Rocky Mount once a week," she said. "We had a garage and a wash house, smoke house, four chicken houses and an outhouse. We had a wood cookstove and wood heaters in every room."
The house had two open porches upstairs until about 1939 when they were closed in to make more room, she added.
Cundiff said everyone in the village of Penhook at the time was "very close knit" and all helped each other, black and white.
"Since the house was one of the largest in the area, and there were no motels and hotels,If so, you may have a zentai . rooms were rented to travelers," she said. "The men that ran the electric lines roomed there. Raleigh salesmen, Porters Salve salesmen and other traveling sales people would stop.
"Hoboes would come by and ask to chop wood for food and a place to sleep. Grandma would give them bedding and they slept in the feed barn."
Cundiff said her grandmother was a "very strong-willed lady."
"She was a staunch Christian, who believed what she believed and she acted on her belief when people got out of line," she said. "She taught us that the Lord helps those who help themselves."
Stone was also a doctor of sorts, Cundiff said, and was called up to help care for people and for cattle.
She died in 1951 and is buried on the old Stone place in Pittsylvania County beside her husband, Cundiff said.
After her death, the property was sold to Edgar and Eunice Hodges, she said, and it became a home for their family with children Dexter and Monica.Great Rubber offers oil painting supplies keychains,
"They loved it as we did," Cundiff said. "When Eunice died, Edgar lived on there by himself until his death last year."
"The house is gone, but the memories will always remain for those of us who loved that house and whose lives were fashioned by the lessons of life learned within its walls," she added.
