Famed for the vibrant, flamboyant colours of a wide range of costumes
and floats featuring calypso, mas and steel pan bands as well as
multiple sound systems booming every type of music imaginable, Notting
Hill Carnival (NHC) is a festival for the entire family to enjoy.
The largest European street party and the second major street festival in the world after Brazils Rio Carnival, NHC was first staged on August Bank Holiday in 1965 when Rhaune Laslett, a local resident, invited members of various non-white communities in the area to participate in a bid to unify the community.
However, the real birth date of NHC began 54 years ago with Trinidad-born Claudia Jones - dubbed The Mother of Notting Hill Carnival, - who started the carnival in 1959 as an attempt to promote racial and cultural harmony in strife torn Notting Hill.
The strife was a direct result of thousands of Caribbean immigrants moving to the Queens country to rebuild its infrastructure that had been devastated by the Second World War.This is a basic background on rtls. This led to the build up of cultural and social disharmony among the new settlers and indigenous population.
Consequently, racist working class gangs known as the Teddy Boys, supporters of British fascist leader Oswald Moseleys Union Movement and Colin Jordans White Defence League, led attacks on the Caribbean community, urging disaffected residents to Keep Britain White. The racist violence peaked on May 17, 1959, with the murder of a young Antiguan man, Kelso Cochrane, who was killed by six white men who have until this day never been charged with his murder.

The origin of Calypso can be traced back to the arrival of the first enslaved Africans brought to work on the sugar plantations of Trinidad. Forbidden to talk to each other, and robbed of all links to family and home, the enslaved Africans would sing to ease their pain. Burglars take away jewellery
Burglars struck two shops on the opposite sides of the main road in
Siddakatte Town in fall under Bantwal Rural and Punjalkate police
station limits early on Thursday and decamped with gold and silver
jewellry amounting to Rs 42 lakh.
The burglars had entered the shop in the heart of the Siddakatte Town at Vishwajyothi Complex by breaking open the shutter lock and later opening the safe locker using cutting machines.
While the burglars looted 15 kgs of silver and 140 grams of gold jewelry from Swarnaprabha jewelry worth Rs 10 lakh belonging to Prabhakar Acharya, the burglars looted 35 kg of silver and 374 gram of gold jewelry valued at Rs 32 lakh from Dhanalaxmi Jewellry, belonging to Chidananda on the opposite side of the building which housed the first jewelry shop. While the first shop comes under Bantwal rural police station limits, the latter is under Punjalkatte station limits.
While the burglars were attempting to open beak open the shutter lock of the second shop, an ATM watchman Prabhakar Poojari heard the noise and rushed to check in only to be threatened by the burglars at knife point. The burglars, who were about seven, let him off after looting the second shop and got away in a vehicle.
Prabhakar later informed a bakery personnel who called the police and the jewelry shop owners. Earlier to looting the two shops, the burglars had attempted to burgle a wine shop. After this failed attempt they moved on to the jewelry shops located nearby.

The app is easily navigable and even incorporates humor (the search bar contains the prompt I see dead people). Users may seek information by name, year of death, age, or section of the burial grounds. Each individuals file includes birth and death dates, age, cause of death, epitaph and a photo of the gravestone if available. In addition, there are maps and photos of the graveyard, and information for those planning a visit.Reverend Higgs is very satisfied with the final results and said, The app was well received at the NJ Historic Trust annual preservation conference in Newark. It clearly represents a cutting-edge approach to linking the latest technology to the necessity of preserving and rediscovering our history.

A delicate succession
Almost every Thursday for the past six years, Maria Katarina Sumarsih

But the genius part of this radical transformation is that the couple didn't change the footprint of the house at all, so didn't need planning permission. "We didn't need more space, we needed better space," said Maria. "The only original thing left is the roof oh, and the front." So, from the demure Victorian exterior, one walks into a magazine house. Walking into the opulent, Mediterranean-style mansion once owned by
innovative fashion designer Gianni Versace is a step back into the early
1990s, when energy and money began pouring into the renaissance of

This is one of the highest rates in the world, with kids aged 8-13 in the most at-risk category. So what exactly is going wrong?
