Bulls, Sharks unite for cause

Vodacom Blue Bulls and Sharks players joined forces at the weekend when they made their way onto the field with bags filled with clothing and bedding - in support of the Clothing4Children campaign.

Impressed with the efforts of Burger brothers Schalk and Wim, who established the Clothing4Children campaign in 2010, Vodacom Blue Bulls and Sharks players collected truckloads of bags.

Last month the Blue Bulls Company endorsed the non-profit organisation and have targeted 50,000 bags of clothing and bedding for those in dire need.

Prior to Saturday’s Absa Currie Cup clash between the Vodacom Blue Bulls and the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, 18,000 bags with a total value of R54m had already been collected and The Blue Bulls Company is now counting on the generosity of its supporters to reach its targeted goal.

Empty Clothing4Children bags were distributed to all suite owners as well as being left at all 10 gates on match day for supporters to take home and fill up.

The Blue Bulls Company is hoping that the overwhelming response by the Currie Cup players will filter down to the fans, suite owners, sponsors and schools in Pretoria and are eagerly awaiting the return of the bags on Saturday, 17th September when the Vodacom Blue Bulls host DHL Western Province.

Allister Coetzee’s charges have also signalled their intent to support the initiative and will have their bags couriered to Loftus Versfeld on matchday.
