Idaho sales associate wins Leggett & Platt's Sleep Geek contest

A retail sales associate in Idaho Falls, Idaho is the grand prize winner in Leggett & Platt's Sleep Geek contest.

Collin Cook of home furnishings retailer Blacker's in Idaho Falls won $10,000 in the contest. He will keep $5,000, with $5,000 going to Blacker's.

Cook won the Sleep Geek Daily Game 18 times in the 100 days the contest was held, winning $1,800 for those victories and making him the top winner in the game. He will be honored with a formal check presentation later this fall.

L&P officials created Sleep-Geek.com to give thousands of bedding retail sales associates and managers a forum to learn, discuss issues, share tips and collaborate with other RSAs around the country to make more money. Sleep Geek launched in May, has become the largest and only online sleep industry community, and continues to grow, officials said.

"Collin was exactly what we are looking for in a Sleep Geek: dedicated to the bedding industry and his role as an RSA, and with a constant desire to improve and influence," said Mark Quinn, segment vice president of marketing for Leggett & Platt's residential furnishings segment. "He played virtually every day with the intent of becoming a better RSA, and earned money along the way. We will be releasing more about Collin's remarkable story later in the fall."

With the Daily Game concluding, Sleep Geek is now asking members to "Feed the Geek," in addition to interacting with the community's forums, polls, entertainment and other existing content. For the "Feed the Geek" feature, a Sleep Geek head has been placed on the home page of the website, asking members to contribute ideas about the Sleep Geek community and the bedding industry to the Geek's brain for consideration.

"Leggett & Platt wants Sleep Geek to truly be a social community, built by and of value to its members," said Quinn. "We are looking to all the Geeks to tell us what types of content will make them better RSAs."
